It’s going to be a busy fall
Harper’s trying to hang on to power.
Opposition parties are after him for his ineffective response to the economic crisis.
Ignatieff is saying he’ll be working to bring down the government as soon as he can.
Bankers are again talking about giving themselves over-the-top bonuses.
Elections in Afghanistan have taken place amid charges of fraud.
The list could go on forever. You just have to look at the news.
– And yet, real life goes on!
People are working hard to make a living.
In Montreal, blue collar workers, who’ve been without a contract for over two years, are on strike.
Municipal workers in Toronto and Windsor fought to protect their working conditions.
The Canadian Labour Congress has an action plan to improve employment insurance and protect our pension plans.
Gay Pride events are being held throughout the country.
Our British and South African sisters and brothers are fighting against the privatization of postal service.
Our struggle to keep our public and universal postal service is getting into full swing again.
That’s real life – our life. Let’s be proud of it.
It sure is going to be a busy fall.
In solidarity,
Denis Lemelin
National President
