Solidarity in Action

Across the country, workers are rising up against employer demands for concessions. In Toronto and Windsor, Ont., municipal employees have been on strike for many days. In Montreal, reporters at the Journal de Montréal, which is owned by Quebecor, have been locked out, and Metro employees in Quebec City are also on strike. And the list could go on. After organizing several demonstrations across the country, the Canadian Labour Congress is now preparing for fall.

Strikers and locked-out employees are saying “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! We’re fed up with employer demands for concessions. We don’t want to give up our hard-won rights and we don’t want to pay the price for the crisis that these companies and governments have caused.” This is also what workers with Air Canada’s largest union have said when rejecting their employer’s offers.
